The Bronte Creek Watershed Renewal Program
A Trout Unlimited Canada flagship conservation project
In 2008 Trout Unlimited Canada (TUC) introduced a watershed renewal policy aimed at providing focused coldwater conservation to six selected waters of which four; River Philip (Nova Scotia), Bronte Creek (Ontario), Drywood Creek (Alberta) and Nile Creek-Qualicum Bay (British Columbia) have been launched. These focused projects, part of TUC’s new National Conservation Agenda are only part of the many projects and activities undertaken by TUC and its members.

The Bronte Creek Watershed
The Ted Knott Chapter has adopted Bronte Creek to be a focal point within the region. This creek supports a healthy trout population today, but has much greater potential. A strategic plan has been drafted which will be used as a guideline to establish  priorities for protection and  rehabilitation of Bronte Creek.

For more information about Bronte Creek, see the Bronte Creek Watershed page.

Mill Creek
This project began for us as a participating member of the steering committee for the Taquanyah Reservoir dam removal project near Cayuga, Ont. Headed by Ducks Unlimited, this project involved the replacement of a  dammed trout stream with naturalized brook trout habitat, plus four off line wetlands, two fishing ponds and critical nesting habitat for bird species at risk.

Following the removal of the Taquanyah dam, Trout Unlimited has continued its efforts to restore Mill Creek with the goal of reintroducing a self sustaining brook trout population in this watershed. To view photographs of the ongoing activities on Mill Creek, please view the slide show "A Stream Reborn" prepared by Bill Christmas as presented to the Izaak Walton Fly Fishing Club.

Collection of Water Temperature Data
Data logging devices that monitor water temperature have been installed in Bronte Creek and it's tributaries. Click here for details about this project.

Bronte Creek Spawning Survey
The Ted Knott Chapter conducts an annual Brown Trout spawning survey of Bronte Creek from Lowville to Cedar Springs.

For the results of this survey, see the Historical Spawning Survey Results page.
