Bronte Creek Rehabilitation Project Announcement

Trout Unlimited Canada in partnership with Conservation Halton and the City of Burlington officially unveiled a two-year $260,000 project to help restore and rehabilitate part of Bronte Creek, meandering through Burlington’s Lowville Park, with the goal of making the watershed healthier for trout to thrive.

Toxic run-off from a burning pesticide plant kills thousands of fish in Spencer Creek
The July 26th blaze at the Biederman Packaging plant on Head Street in Dundas lead to toxic waste water flowing through storm sewers and into Spencer Creek. Biederman Packaging produces powdered rodent poisons and insecticides which were absorbed in douse water used to extinguish the fire.

The Green Drake Mayfly has disappeared from the Credit River, and other Southern Ontario watersheds. Can Bronte Creek help to provide some answers about what is happening to these insects ?
