Tree Planting Workday
May 4th, 2008

The Ted Knott Chapter of Trout Unlimited Canada, with assistance from Conservation Halton and volunteers from GE Water & Process Technologies, organized a tree planting day to improve the riparian cover along a section of Bronte Creek near Concession 11 East in Flamborough.

The site has previously been restored from an online pond which was filled in several years ago. The lack of vegetation along the bank allows direct sunlight on the creek causing significant warming in the summer months.

Shrubs planted along the creek bank will quickly provide some shade, while trees planted farther up the bank will take much longer to block the warm sunlight.

Thanks to the many volunteers who came out on this sunny May morning to help!
